Constanța International Competition-Festival for Young Pianists is organized by the Nihil Sine Arte Association in partnership with Regina Maria National College of Arts and Oleg Danovski National Opera and Ballet Theatre. It will take place in Constanța, Romania from October 26th-November 3rd 2023.

The competition welcomes young pianists of any nationality, ethnicity or educational system.

Regulations

1. The competition will take place in one stage, with the following age groups

  • Group A: 7 – 9 years old (born in 2014-2016)
  • Group B: 10-12 years old (born in 2011-2013)
  • Group C: 13-15 years old (born in 2008-2010)
  • Group D: 16-18 years old (born in 2005-2007)
  • Group E: 19-23 years old (born in 2000-2004)

2. Repertoire

  • A virtuoso étude
  • Two or more works from at least two different styles/periods

3. Length of performance

  • Group A: 7- 9 years old – max. 10 minutes
  • Group B: 10-12 years old – max. 15 minutes
  • Group C: 13-15 years old – max. 25 minutes
  • Group D: 16-18 years old – max. 30 minutes
  • Group E: 19-23 years old – max. 40 minutes

Important!

The candidates may enroll in a higher age category. All works must be performed by heart.

Competitors who exceed the maximum time limit allocated to the repertoire will be required to announce the total length of their performance upon registration!

4. Terms and conditions

The deadline for applications is 19 October 2023.

By completing and signing the registration form that will be sent by e-mail following the request to register for the competition (or which may be downloaded from this site), the participant (or the participant’s legal representative) expressly consents to the Nihil Sine Arte Association using, storing and processing personal data for the purposes and legitimate interests of the association’s activity according to the personal data protection legislation in force in the EU.

Information about the schedule and order of playing will be published on our Facebook page after the draw.

The organizers have the right to change the rules and regulations of the competition, and to inform the participants in due time if such changes occur. Enrolment in the competition represents the participant’s acceptance of the rules and regulations, of video recording for promotional purposes, and of privacy policy regulation according to the legislation of the EU.

5. Documents required to make an application

  • A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate/national ID/passport.
  • A completed application form.

After the application is verified, a confirmation will be sent by e-mail. If the confirmation is not received within two working days after the application, please contact us on the previously mentioned telephone number.

6. Jury

The jury members are well-known pianists and teachers from Romania and abroad. The competition results are final and cannot be appealed.

7. Prizes

During the Awards Ceremony, the first, second and third prizes will be awarded with their corresponding cash prizes. There will also be Commendations and may be additional special prizes. Any special prizes for 2023 will be announced to the jury and to competitors once confirmed before the start of the competition. Special prizes may take the form of piano concerts with an orchestra, piano recitals, work sessions/visits or piano masterclasses.

The jury reserves the right not to award a prize in a particular category.

There may be multiple winners of the same prize in a category.

The Awards Ceremony will take place either in the Sergiu Celibidache Hall or the Miron Bibu Hall in the Regina Maria National College of Arts.

7. Location

Constanța International Competition for Young Pianists will take place either in the Sergiu Celibidache Hall or the Miron Bibu Hall in the Regina Maria National College of Arts.

The entire competition is open to the public.

Practice rooms will be provided during the competition.

8. Accommodation and transport

The organization team will inform participants about the conditions of accommodation, if necessary, through an additional regulations document. A list of hotels and local transportation can be sent upon request.
